Tradequest was founded in 1985 by Julian C. Kurtz .    Julian was born in 1924 in the Polish city of Lwow (which today belongs to Eastern Ukraine and is presently known as "Lviv").  Julian served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Polish Army during World War II as a tank platoon commander and in 1944 he was wounded by enemy ground fire.  After the war he stayed in England to study Economics at the University of London.

In 1947 Julian immigrated to Argentina where he worked as a Shift Supervisor at UNIROYAL TIRE at the Merlo plant, just north of Buenos Aires.  In 1957 he was transferred to Colombia to start a new tire plant in Cali.  After marrying Dianne in 1959 and the birth of his 2 daughters Kathryn and Carolyn, he was transferred to Bogota to manage the Uniroyal plant there.    From Bogota he was appointed Factory Manager and transferred to Mexico City in 1967 where he remained for 3 years until he was promoted to General Manager of Uniroyal operations in Venezuela with offices in Caracas.   In 1974, Julian was sent back to Mexico again to manage the Mexican operations and in 1978 took over the management of all of Latin America & Mexico as Regional Vice President with offices in Coral Gables, Florida.  He was transferred once more back to Mexico City in 1978 in the same capacity.

Julian retired from UNIROYAL in 1981 and moved to San Antonio, TX in 1983 where he subsequently set up TRADEQUEST to handle equipment and spare parts for tire plants in Latin America.   After 40 successful years, TRADEQUEST continues to operate under the management of daughters Kathryn and Carolyn.

Julian passed away on August 20th, 2020 at 96 years of age.
